Dr. Jeffrey Heck

For over 30 years, Dr. Jeffrey Heck has carried on his family tradition, providing quality dental care. His commitment to family oriented, comprehensive dentistry is the same his grandfather had when he started the practice in 1911 and his father continued for 52 years. One thing that has changed over the years, however, is the advancement of dental technology. Dr. Heck keeps up with these new developments and uses the latest innovations to treat his patients.

Dr. Heck treats each of his patients as though they are part of the Heck family. Dr. Heck’s initial objective is to find out what patients want in terms of their smile and oral health. Then, using his findings of their dental needs combined with their own goals, he develops a comprehensive action plan. Dr. Heck feels that it is his responsibility to explain all his findings and recommendations to patients so they can make informed decisions regarding treatment. Once treatment has begun, patients are on their way to a beautiful, healthy smile.

Education

Dr. Heck has always taken an interest in science and enjoyed art, which is why he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. The dental profession allows him to combine science with artistic design to give patients a natural, healthy smile. Dr. Heck attended the Loyola School of Dentistry in Maywood, Illinois, where he graduated in 1977. After successfully completing dental school, Dr. Heck went on to receive special training in neuromuscular dentistry and the treatment of TMD (temporal mandibular dysfunction) at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Dr. Heck has also received advanced training in veneers and artistic design.

Memberships

As a dentist committed to continuing his professional development, Dr. Heck is a member of many prestigious organizations including the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois State Dental Society. He is also the president and coordinator for the Mount Prospect Dental Study Club.

Family Life

Dr. Heck has been married for over 30 years to his college sweetheart, Sheila, a dedicated high school ESL (English as a second language) teacher. They have two children, Elyse and Nathan. Elyse works as an analyst program manager for J.P. Morgan Chase’s Commercial Banking in Chicago. Nathan is both a staff sergeant in the Army Reserve, and a systems and security administrator for Purdue University’s College of Computer Science. The whole family is certified in scuba diving and all enjoy outdoor activities. When Nathan was younger and in the Boy Scouts, his father spent ten years as a scout volunteer. Dr. Heck moved up through the ranks from a scout master to district commissioner and finally, high adventure assistant scout master. Here, he had the opportunity to experience rock climbing, rappelling, white water canoeing, winter camping, and backpacking in the Southern Rockies. It is no surprise that Dr. Heck still enjoys many of these activities. He and Sheila also enjoy hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and gardening.
